There are many different types of radio's so it would be very difficult to show you how to program every model that this RIB will program, Here is a brief overview of what programing a motorola radio entails. Click Here to see a diagram of pin-outs for other Motorola radios

First connect the RIB to your computer's serial port. The serial port is the 9-pin female connector on your computer.
Connect the other end of the serial cable to the rib on the From Computer side.
Then connect the radio programing cable to the to radio side, and attach it to your radio. Make sure both the rib and radio are powered on.
To use the RSS for most older radio's you will need to start your computer in dos. Click Here. Download the program and either save it to your hardrive or run it directly. It will require you to put a blank floppy disk into you drive. This will be your Dos Boot Disk.
Turn on your computer with the Boot Disk in the floppy drive. select boot with CD-ROM support. If you have the RSS on a floppy you can install it usually by swaping the boot disk for the RSS disk and typing the command install. After the sofware is installed the software will run and you can use the F-keys and arrow keys to enter most of the data.
Here is a Screen Shot of the RSS for editing Frequency and P/L Code Information.
